Marketing strategies for doctors.
 
As we all know very well that doctors are very poor in the marketing of their own hospital or clinic. In a corporate or big hospital there is a different team to take care of marketing. But in small nursing homes, poly clinics and clinics, doctors have to take care of everything. Here are a few tips which I am sharing.
 
 
Doctors day exclusive.
Offline marketing strategy.
 
1.Hospital/clinic name:
1.Name should be unique, small , preferably 5-6 alphabets.
2.It should be easy for people to pronounce .
3.Preferably name should not be related to the doctor’s name because in future if someone is planning to invest in our setup it will be difficult.
 
 
2.Hospital/clinic hoardings:
1.Hospital hoardings should be clearly visible to the pedestrians and people who are on the road.
2.It should not contain excessive stuff.
3.We can add what all services are available in the hoardings inside the premises.
4.Every hospital/ clinic should have a unique color which we can use in hospital name plate, file, and some colour in the hospital premises.
 
 
3.Patient file:
Even though it costs a little higher, it serves dual purpose. It should contain the hospital’s and doctors name and services available.
1.To keep prescription in place for years.
2.To advertise your hospital.
 
4.Customized calendars:
1.My personal suggestion is that every hospital should print 1000-2000 calendars and give it to patients between Dec 15- Dec 31.
2.We have to invest on calendar on Jan 1 but patients will do it till 31dec.
3.We should print beautiful nature photos with hospital names on sides and services on footers.
 
5.Free camps at catchment areas:
1.Camps should be conducted in the areas where we have hopes to get our patients.
2.With the help of local people we can conduct free medical camp.
 
Online marketing strategy:
 
 
6.Google my business:
1.This app/ site helps us to list our hospital/clinic in Google map and Google search engine.
2.We have to login with a Gmail account and update about the location.
3.Google sends code through post.
4.Need to enter code for final approval.
5.Add all details of your hospital including some good quality photos, exact location, helpline no and working hours and much more.
6.Keep ratings above 4+.
7.This helps to increase your walk in patients.
7.Website with hospital domain/ Free listing in Justdial:
1.My suggestion is to have a website with a hospital domain.
2.If it is not possible then we can update free listing on Justdial site.
 
8.Facebook:
1.Create a Facebook page with your hospital name.
2. Add all details of your hospital.
3. Keep on posting about the medical updates and hospital information.
4. One post per week.
5. Announce camp or any events which are planned in the hospital.
 
9.Instagram:
1.Just have an account with the hospital name.
2. Keep on posting about medical updates and hospital information.
3. We can synchronize Instagram with Facebook.
4. Whatever you post here it will be shown on Facebook.
 
10.Whatsapp:
1.This is a closed social networking app.
2. One can post a template with interesting facts and hospital names in WhatsApp status and send it to your friends and relatives.
 
 11. Electronic medical records (EMR).
These sites and apps help us indirectly to market us.
Advantages:
1.These websites save the patient data so that we don’t need to save hard copies for further medico-legal issues.
2. These apps will give an analysis of where the patient is coming from, who is referring the patient, and much more so that we can do marketing more on those areas.
 
My recommendation for EMR is UMDAA. I have worked with the UMDAA team, this EMR is doctor friendly as it is built by the doctors and for the doctors.
