Paper presentation and publication for postgraduates.
Medical postgraduate entrance exams are very tough examinations that are conducted across the country. After a hardship of so many days and nights, a medical graduate will get a postgraduate seat in medical school. Once he/she enters medical school as a post-graduate then he/she thinks that for three years there is no examination, so he/ she will be relaxed till 2 years of post-graduation. Initial 2 years of post-graduation is the best time for study concepts wise and apply in clinical practice. In this period of time, we can do research, present papers, and publish papers. Once someone has this attitude then he can keep on presenting and publishing papers throughout life.
Science is an ever-changing branch. Medical science is a rapidly changing branch. As a medical professional one should be kept updated on what innovation/research is happening across the world.
How to keep oneself updated.
1.Attend CME(Continuing Medical Education)
2. Attend a state conference.
3. Attend a national conference.
4. Keep on scrolling through the standard journals.
5. Do research, present in conferences, and publish in journals.
Benefits of paper presentation and publication:
1. These publications help you in getting a better fellowship in India and abroad.
2. Helps you in getting a better post in a reputed medical school.
3. It will have an impact on clinical practice.
Targets for presentation and publication for postgraduates:
1.Minimum 3 poster presentations.
2.Minimum 2 paper presentations one in-state conference and one in a national conference.
3.Minimum 1 publication in standard journals and 1 in any other journals.
Tips for presentation and publication:
1. In the initial days of post-graduation, one needs to have keen observations to check which type of study is feasible in my medical school.
2. After selecting a couple of topics it’s time to discuss with the seniors and professors, especially those who are a guide for your thesis.
3. Do the thesis genuinely and sincerely, publish it later.
4. Keep on checking the article in which you want to do research.
5. Start your study accordingly.
6. Register for the conference, send 2 / 3 abstracts so that at least one gets selected for paper presentation.
7. If the conference committee doesn’t accept your abstract for the paper presentation then they will give that topic for poster presentations, which is also good.
I hope whatever I have shared with you might be benefited.
All the best.
